Does this search scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF already has a text layer (most PDFs exported from a word processor, or scanned with OCR applied). A plain image-only scan has no text to search — run OCR on it first, which the Velox PDF Mac app does on-device.
Is this different from my browser's own Ctrl+F / Cmd+F search?
Not fundamentally — both search the PDF's text layer. This tool exists for a quick one-off search without opening the file in a viewer first, and lists every matching page in one place.
Is there a limit on how many matches it shows?
Up to 200 matches per search, which covers all but the longest documents.
